The light performance projects are series of “light graffiti” photos created in collaboration with performance artists who move with neon colored lights as an expression of their personal responses to human impact on the environment. Like contemporary graffiti, the light drawings, signatures and abstract patterns disrupt the landscape with individual traces. However, the light is captured only by the long exposure of the camera, which translates the movement of performance into graphic patterns and lasting form. The photographic light graffiti becomes an archive of the trace left by the interaction between human, technology and nature. The goal of the project is to inspire reverence and empower responsibility for the relationship between the natural world and the ephemeral individual life.
